Prehnite is a translucent to transparent gem-quality hydrated calcium aluminum silicate. It was the first mineral to be named after an individual, and it was also the first mineral to be described from South Africa, long before South Africa became one of the most important sources for precious and semi-precious gems. It was first described in 1788 after it was discovered in the Karoo dolerites of Cradock, South Africa. Prehnite was later named after its discoverer, Colonel Hendrik von Prehn a Dutch mineralogist and an early governor of the Cape of Good Hope colony.Until recently, prehite was a rare collector's gemstone, but new deposits have now made it more readily available. In China, prehnite is sometimes referred to as 'grape jade' owing to nodular formations which often resemble a bunch of grapes. Its color is usually a soft apple-green, which is quite unique to prehnite, but it can also occur in rarer colors including yellow, orange and blue.

If Rutilated Quartz has made an appearance in your life, remember that it chose you, not the other way around. Set aside your self-doubt and fears and listen to its guidance from the other side.
Its shimmery finish has inspired ancient legends associated with the Rutilated Quartz crystal meaning. Also called Venus's hair stone after its fine golden hairs, the ancients were drawn to its glistening luster, a distinctive characteristic that was incorporated into jewelry for that extra touch of glamour and sparkle.

Labradorite became popular with the missionaries. Labradorite is a plagioclase feldspar which shows adularescence (a white or bluish light seen when turned). This optical effect is so unique to labradorite that it has been termed. It is the result of diffraction of light in the layers of rock. When viewed at certain angles, labradorite exhibits such captivating color that has led to Inuit legends stating that the Northern Lights shone down on the shores of Labrador and were captured inside these colorful stones. The most highly valued labradorite is material that shows the full spectrum of color in its. Labradorite that does not exhibit can still make beautiful gemstones because of aventurescence, which is a glitter caused by diffraction of light from mineral platelets.
